LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in urgent need of blood donations

LifeSouth says that appointments are encouraged, but not required.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is continuing to see an urgent need for blood donations as we move into the holiday season.

To combat this problem, LifeSouth is holding what they call the largest blood drive that North Alabama has ever seen. The event, called "Joy of Giving," will take place on December 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at various North Alabama blood centers.

“For the past two weeks, LifeSouth has not met our full goal to have adequate amount of blood for our 17 North Alabama hospitals," Kami Mitchell, District Community Development Coordinator at LifeSouth said. “There is not an artificial substance created in a lab to make blood that is why it is so important we have volunteer donors come out and donate.”
