The Legacy Center to relaunch free food distribution program

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — The Legacy Center announced on Monday it will be relaunching its free food distribution program.

The organization said it partnered with the USDA, AARP and more than 40 interdenominational faith-based organizations to feed more than 4,000 families in 2020.

Starting February 3, the organization is relaunching the initiative with more than 50 partners, including the Alabama A&M Cooperative Extensions Systems and AARP, and aims to feed approximately 5,000 families in the community.

The partnered organizations will receive produce boxes every other week to serve families in need, with a focus on elderly and disabled adults and caregivers.

The distribution will begin at the Legacy Center, located at 2212 Jordan Lane Southwest, at 8 30 a.m. on Wednesday. At 11 a.m., the organization said it will begin to serve those throughout the community.
