North Alabama Drug Task Force seizes more than 22 pounds of illegal drugs, $18,500 cash in one week

Meth, cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, guns, and cash were among the items found after multiple investigations.

North Alabama Drug Task Force seizures

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — More than 22 pounds of drugs, including more than two pounds of methamphetamine, were seized by the North Alabama Drug Task Force (NADTF) in a single week.

According to Huntsville police, during the course of several drug investigations, agents seized more than 20 pounds of marijuana, 2.7 pounds of methamphetamine, 79 grams of cocaine, 35 grams of heroin, 21 grams of MDMA, 19 grams of fentanyl, and 7 bottles of steroids. 

Investigators say the estimated total street value of all these drugs these drugs is $420,000. 

Seven illegal handguns, one illegal rifle-style pistol, and $18,500 of cash were also confiscated.

Some of the items were seized as the result of traffic stops.

Officers making a traffic stop overnight on Jan 20 recovered approximately one pound of methamphetamine and a firearm.

Two traffic stops earlier in the week led to the seizure of paraphernalia, drugs, and cash. According to Huntsville police, North Precinct officers made a traffic stop near Hwy 72 and Boswell Rd and after a brief interaction with the driver they saw, in plain-view, drug paraphernalia items including a set of scales. Further investigation led to the discovery of 31 grams of cocaine, almost $1200 in cash and an Oxycodone pill. The offender was charged with trafficking Cocaine and POCS-Opioid. West Precinct Officers made contact on a suspicious person/vehicle at a local hotel parking lot and the stop lead to the discover of 11 lbs of marijuana and $14k in cash. That offender also faces felony drug charges.

Names of suspects have been withheld as several investigations are ongoing.
