Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle to pay tribute to fallen service members

The annual ceremony will be held at the Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial Park starting at 9 a.m.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — This Memorial Day, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle will honor fallen American service members during a ceremony and wreath-laying at the Huntsville-Madison County Veterans Memorial Park.

The annual event will start at 9 a.m. on Memorial Day, May 31.

This year's guest speaker is Lt. Gen. Donnie Walker, deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Materiel Command and Team Redstone senior commander.

The park is located on Monroe Street in Downtown Huntsville.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday, May 25, offered some positive news ahead of Memorial Day weekend. They say COVID-vaccinated people can safely enjoy most activities without wearing a mask.

“If you are vaccinated, you are protected, and you can enjoy your Memorial Day,” CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky reassured Americans.
