Huntsville couple goes sledding during Alabama's snow day

One Huntsville couple bundled up with their dog and hit the slopes, in this case a nearby ditch.

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — People across the Tennessee Valley took advantage of being snowed in on Thursday.

There was no shortage of snowmen being made in front yards, but one couple in Huntsville got creative.

Kelcie and Sam Thomas are from Florida, so they were excited when they saw the snow piling up.

"This is the most snow we've ever seen," said Kelcie. "I mean, we don't get any in Florida, but we lived in Virginia for a year and it was never like this, so I think it's really special that we got to see this today."

The two decided to bundle up with their dog, Bunny, and hit the slopes, or in this case a nearby ditch. Either way, all it took was a storage bin lid and some creativity for this family to have snow much fun.

Sam said, "We're obviously not very prepared, but I have gone sledding once or twice, so I tried to find the closest thing I could."

They say if there is still snow around you, they recommend grabbing a storage bin lid and going for a ride.
