Huntsville City Schools starting mobile meal delivery

Starting Monday, August 31st, Huntsville City Schools will begin delivering meals to students in ten different neighborhoods and community centers.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville City Schools is making it easier for families to get free to-go meals.

Starting Monday, August 31st, Huntsville City Schools will begin delivering meals to students in ten different neighborhoods and community centers.

School buses will deliver both breakfast and lunch on weekdays from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m to the following locations:

Boys and Girls Club
Cherokee Bend Apartments
Garden Cove
Meadow Hills
Merrimac Manor
Northwoods area
Olympia Gardens Apartments
Parks and Recreation (Apollo)
Rain Tree Apartments
Shady Grove Mobile Homes

Students must qualify for free and reduced lunch to get the meals.

HCS Child Nutrition Program Director, Henry Ward, said, "They may have to worry about hey, how do I get to my home school or how do I get to the closest school that's by me if I don't have transportation. This way, we can deliver and bring the meals to them and that way they don't have to stress about trying to figure out what they're going to eat."

The school system will continue with the curbside meal service at all Huntsville City Schools.
