Lovers of “Thin Mints”, “Samoas”, and “S’mores”; rejoice! It’s a sweet start to the new month as the Girl Scouts kicked off the cookie season with their cookie “Count and Go”.
Huge palettes of Girl Scout cookies were unloaded Saturday morning in Madison as troops lined up to receive them. Some flavors include “Do-Si-Dos”, “Toffee-Tastic”, and of course a fan favorite, “Thin Mints”.
Organizers say there’s a new flavor they’ve rolled out called “Lemon Ups”. North Central Alabama Regional CFO Gina Walley says this activity teaches the girls entrepreneurship, people skills, and money skills.
“They learn a lot of those life skills that you need when you go out into the world, and they learn how to run a business. We have troops that do everything from community service. They all do community service,” said Walley.
Next weekend the troops will start selling cookies door-to-door in their communities. Valentines Day will be the first day of booth sales.
