You might not be thinking about back to school shopping, but teachers are

Public school teachers in Madison County can shop around for supplies needed in their classrooms this fall.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Back-to-school shopping is right around the corner. Making sure teachers have a fully stocked classroom is helpful for students and parents who aren't able to buy every item on the supply list.

Free 2 Teach, a nonprofit, is taking care of teacher's needs by giving out thousands of free supplies. Within the last year alone, they gave away over a million dollars worth of school supplies.

A teacher volunteer, Lar Nique Lunsford says she's happy to see all the teachers getting what they need. "I've even taught overseas and this is the only place we've ever been where there is a store for teachers to come," Lunsford said.

If you're a public school teacher in Madison County, sign up on their website and Free 2 Teach will schedule a date and time with you to stop by.

Free 2 Teach is always looking for volunteers to help sort through donations

Jennifer Cummings, the manager of the Free2Teach store, encourages anyone who has free time during the summer to stop by and help for a few hours.

"If you don't have anything to do right now and you'd like to volunteer for the summer, the teachers are shopping now and we do about eighty teachers a day," Cummings said.

Donations can be given through the Free 2 Teach website, or dropped off at their warehouse on 3054 Leeman Ferry Road.
