Free 2 Teach has given away $1.2 million in supplies and resources this school year.

This marks the second year in a row that Free 2 Teach has exceeded the million-dollar milestone.

Free 2 Teach works with an array of community partners and volunteers to provide free supplies and resources for Madison County’s 53,000 public school students and its 3,800 teachers.

“We are proud of the work of our incredible volunteers and community supporters who can celebrate
this milestone alongside us,” said Eula Battle, Executive Director of Free 2 Teach. “This means we are
getting more supplies than ever into the hands of students who need them most. We are serving more
teachers than ever before, ensuring that they do not have to spend out of pocket to outfit their classroom and equip their students.”

During this academic year, Free 2 Teach has supported 2,228 shops from teachers in all three school
systems in Madison County: Madison City, Huntsville City and Madison County. Since its doors opened in 2011, Free 2 Teach has given away over $4 million in supplies and resources and has supported over 6,000 teacher shops.

“Our teachers can shop with us up to five times a year, and each time they shop they leave with an
average of $549 in supplies and resources,” said Development Director, Alison Kling. “Our community
partners are providing an incredible level of support: from in-kind supply donations, to monetary
contributions. Their financial support keeps our doors open and buys the most urgently-needed supplies such as paper, crayons and composition books. Many more have volunteered countless hours to organize our store and support teacher shops. We are so grateful for the support of the whole county.”
