Early school dismissals and closures for May 4, 2021

Some schools in the Tennessee Valley are dismissing early due to the threat of severe weather. Check back for updates.

MADISON, Ala — Early dismissals for Tuesday, May 4, 2021 due to severe weather threat. We will continue to update these as more information becomes available.

  • Albertville City Schools - Releasing at 12:30 May 4, 2021
  • Arab City Schools - Dismissing 2 hours early today, May 4, 2021 
  • Boaz City Schools - Dismissing at 12:30 today, Tuesday, May 4, 2021  
  • Colbert County Schools - Dismissing at 1 PM. Also, all after school activities will be canceled. 
  • Cullman County Schools - Dismissing at 12:00 PM May 4, 2021 
  • Cullman City Schools - Dismissing at 12:30 PM May 4, 2021 
  • DeKalb County Schools-  Dismissing at 1:00 today, May 4, 2021, due to the threat of severe weather. 

  • Franklin County Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 PM May 4, 2021 
  • Florence City Schools - May 4, 2021 
    • W.C. Handy - Dismissing at 11:30 AM
    • Harlan Elementary - Dismissing at 11:30 AM
    • Forest Hills Elementary - Dismissing at 11:30 AM
    • Weeden Elementary - Dismissing at 11:30 AM
    • Hibbett Intermediate - Dismissing at 11:30 AM
    • Florence Middle School - Dismissing at 12:15 PM
    • Florence Freshman Center - Dismissing at 12:15 PM
    • Florence High School - Dismissing at 12:15 PM
    • Mars Hill Bible School - Dismissing at 1:00 PM
  • Guntersville City Schools - Dismissing at 12:45 pm today, Tuesday, May 4th due to weather. All after-school activities have been canceled.
  • Huntsville City Schools - Dismissing early on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 due to the threat of severe weather. Staggered schedule:
    12:45 p.m.: Elementary schools-1:15 p.m.: Middle and junior high schools (including all grades for AAA and ASFL)
    1:45 p.m.: High schools
     Buses will be running for all schools. All after-school activities and athletic events will not occur. 
  • Jackson County Schools: All after school activities have been cancelled for today May 4, 2021 
  • Lauderdale County Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 PM May 4, 2021 
  • Lawrence County Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 today, Tuesday, May 4th

    • Elementary - Dismissing at 12:30 PM May 4, 2021 
    • Middle & High - Dismissing at 1:15 PM (All after-school activities are canceled) May 4, 2021 
  • Madison County Schools(All after-school activities are canceled)
    • Middle & High - Dismissing at 1:00 PM May 4, 2021 
    • Elementary - Dismissing at 1:30 PM May 4, 2021 
  • Marshall County Schools - Will release at 12:30 today, May 4, 2021
  • Morgan County Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 PM (All after-school activities are canceled) May 4, 2021 
  • Muscle Shoals City Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 PM May 4, 2021 
  • Russellville City Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 PM May 4, 2021 
  • Scottsboro City Schools - Due to the threat of severe thunderstorms, Tuesday's performance of The Wizard of Oz has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 6th at 7:30pm 
  • Sheffield City Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 PM May 4, 2021
  • St. John Paul II Catholic High School  - Dismissing at 1:15 PM. All after school activities are cancelled.
  • Tuscumbia City Schools - Dismissing at 1:00 PM May 4, 2021 
  • YMCA Early Childhood Education Centers will close at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, due to anticipated severe weather. Affected facilities are the YMCA Northwest Early Childhood Education Center, YMCA Southeast  Early Childhood Education Center, and the YMCA Downtown Early Childhood Education Center.

    YMCA Branches (@Hogan Family YMCA, @Southeast Family YMCA, @Downtown Express YMCA) are unaffected at the time of this announcement.
