Disinfect clothes and shoes to prevent the spread of COVID-19

Medical workers say you should change into clean clothes when you get home and take off your shoes before walking inside.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Most people are stuck at home, but if you do have to get out to go to work or get groceries, don't forget to disinfect before walking into your house.

Medical workers say you should change into clean clothes when you get home and take off your shoes before walking inside.

Simple disinfectants can kill COVID-19, so spraying your shoes down and washing them regularly should do the trick.

Director of Nursing at BrightStar Home Care, Pam Dace, said, "When you're doing your shopping, we think about gloves and masks, but think about your clothes and your shoes, because they're contaminated and once you go in your home, you've contaminated the home."

It's also recommended to wipe down your cell phone often.
