Decatur man arrested on five counts of child sexual abuse

DECATUR, Ala. — A Decatur man is in jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond, charged with five counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years of age.

According to Decatur police, the department was made aware of sexual abuse allegations involving Jonathan Clifton and a juvenile.  

Detective Bankhead and the Department of Human Resources began a joint investigation into the allegations.   

Authorities say that at the conclusion of the investigation, Clifton was charged with five (5) counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years of age.   

Clifton was booked into the Morgan County Jail, where he will be held in lieu of a $100,000.00 aggregate bond.  

The Decatur Police Department reminds the public that the defendant in this case is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
