Christina Turner has been teaching at Endeavor Elementary in Harvest ever since it opened in 2000. She says she loves to watch her little ones grow and learn.

“It is a feeling you can’t describe, you know, when they get that concept it just makes you feel so proud,” smiles Christina Turner, the Valley’s Top Teacher.

Mrs. Turner says her second graders need to know they’re cared about and loved not just at home, but also at school.

“I tell them that I am their mom away from home,” shares Mrs. Turner. “You know, I have three girls of my own, and I am with these children five days a week, eight hours a day. I care about them like they are my own kids.”

“She says that she loves us and cares about us,” grins Abigail Lopez, a second grade student.

Being a teacher is Mrs. Turner’s calling. She has known this is what she wanted to do ever since she was in the third grade.

“I drew a picture, I would draw me at the chalkboard,” explains Mrs. Turner. “My mom saved that. My mom was a big inspiration to me. She was not a teacher, but she was a stay at home mom.

Mrs. Turner teaches reading, social studies, and science. She has a pet snake in the classroom and does a lot of hands on activities to keep the kids engaged.

“We planted stuff in soil, and we do learn about plants sometimes, and we make crafts and stuff,” says Cruz Gonzalez, a second grade student.

“She’s nice, and she is very smart, and she teaches us good things,” shares Abigail Lopez.

Mrs. Turner says her goal is to leave a lasting impact on her kids and develop lasting relationships.

“I want them to know that if they ever need me in the future, that they can always come back and talk to Mrs. Turner.”
