Bob Jones is one of 317 public schools selected for the award across the country, and was picked out of a pool of over 130,000 public schools nationwide.

Principal, Sylvia Lambert, says the application process was a lengthy one-- but, it was definitely worth it. She addresses media Thursday saying, “The application process started about a year and a half ago.... This award was based on math, reading, ELA scores. They would be state standardized test scores as well as graduation rates.”

This is the second time the school has received this award. The first time was in 1994. The school has to wait another 5 years before reapplying for another Blue Ribbon.
