AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) – Auburn University Athletics is confirming via social media, Rod Bramblett, the beloved Voice of the Auburn Tigers, and his wife Paula have been involved in a serious car crash.

“Rod Bramblett, the Voice of the Auburn Tigers, and his wife, Paula, were involved in a serious car accident early Saturday evening in Auburn. We at the Auburn Family to keep the Bramblett family in your thoughts and prayers,” read the post on Auburn Tigers, the official page of AU Athletics.

Multiple sources confirm to News 3; the couple was involved in a horrific crash along Shug Jordan Parkway, where one person has been pronounced dead.

Lee County Coroner Bill Harris released the following statement:

“A two-vehicle motor vehicle collision Saturday afternoon about  6:00 pm has claimed one life and critically injured another person. The accident happened at the intersection of Samford Avenue and Shug Jordan Parkway in Auburn. The driver of one vehicle was transported to EAMC and then airlifted by helicopter to UAB Hospital in Birmingham with critical injuries. The passenger was airlifted from the scene but had to be diverted to EAMC due to the severity of her injuries and died in the emergency room from her injuries shortly after arrival there. The driver of the other vehicle was taken by ambulance to EAMC emergency room with non-life-threatening injuries. The names of all involved are being withheld at this time pending notification of all family members. Alcohol was not a factor in the accident. The accident remains under investigation by the Lee County Coroner’s Office and the Auburn Police,” said Coroner Harris.

Auburn police confirmed on Saturday at 6:08 pm, Auburn Police, Fire, and paramedics responded to a motor vehicle crash on Shug Jordan Pkwy at the intersection of W Samford Av.

Police report a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck the rear of a 2017 Toyota Highlander.  A 53-year-old male and a 52-year-old female, both occupants of the Highlander, were transported to EAMC by ambulance with serious injuries.

Police say the 16-year-old male driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee was transported to EAMC by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

One fatality has been confirmed, but names will not be released until family notifications are made.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division.
