Athens Alehouse & Cellar prepares for first New Year's bash

Athens Alehouse & Cellar is having a big NYE celebration and everyone in town is invited.

ATHENS, Ala. — Lori Hill and her husband own Athens Alehouse and Cellar. It opened in Athens Square a couple of months ago.

In celebration of the new year, they are bringing in a band and inviting the people of Athens to their first big celebration since opening the establishment.

Hill states that the alehouse "has a band lined up from 7 to 10", as well as a "DJ from 10 until [they] bring in the new year".

She also says everyone, including families, is welcome to come to the alehouse to celebrate. Despite the threat of rain on the horizon, Hill assures the community that the establishment will be celebrating regardless of the weather.

Hill exclaims, "W are definitely open rain or shine," and that they will "have the street blocked off in front of [their] business."

She says that the band "will have speakers that [they're] going to roll outside, so people can hang outside if they bring a lawn chair or whatever they'd like to be comfortable."

Lori Hill and her husband also have immense gratitude for the support that the Athens community has shown their business.

Hill states that "Without them, we wouldn't be where we are today."

The city of Athens has been steadily growing over the past couple of years, and Hill exclaims how "watching [her] hometown grow into something bigger, and wonderful," as well as the city still feeling like a "small town," is something that is very "important to [her]."
