Alabama Sales Tax Holiday for school supplies starts July 17

Items that are necessary for schools, such as clothing and computer equipment, will be able to be bought without sales tax during this time period.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama's Back to School Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 17 and runs until midnight on the following Sunday.

Items that are necessary for schools, such as clothing and computer equipment, will be able to be bought without sales tax during this time period – with some exceptions.

Retailers at Academy Sports + Outdoors say they're expecting an increase in online orders due to the pandemic.They say there's also safety measures at the store.

"The Academy is taking CDC and local community recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus, and that includes supporting proper social distancing with markers. Sanitizing hand baskets and carts," says Academy Sports + Outdoors Public Relations Specialist, John Byczek.
