MORGAN COUNTY, Alabama — COVID-19 cases are slowly increasing in Morgan County.
As of September 14th, 2020, there are 18 patients in the Decatur Morgan Hospital with COVID-19. Four of those patients are on ventilators.
Despite the slight climb in cases, Superintendent of Decatur City Schools, Dr. Michael Douglas, says things are going well.
Decatur City Schools reports only their active cases. On Friday, September 11th, five students in the school system tested positive for COVID-19. One at Austin High School, one at Austin Junior High, one at Austin Middle School, one at Ben Davis, and one at Decatur High School.
Over 150 students and 34 faculty and staff are quarantined.
"It's been very frustrating for our parents," said Douglas. "But that's what has allowed us to keep the doors open because I think the reason we've had few cases of students is because of the quarantining."
Douglas says they do have plans in place if there is an uptick in cases.
