Women Veterans Interactive is a national non-profit organization that helps support female veterans. The organization has a local chapter here in the Tennessee Valley that spent Memorial Day advocating for women.
According to the Huntsville Chapter President, Javis Kincaid, the organization helps women veterans pay bills, rent, utilities, etc. They empower vets who have ended up in unfortunate circumstances.
Women veterans account for the highest homeless population among veterans.
“We have several women veterans who have served for many many years. You know, just due to their release from the military they just weren’t ready to transition and they didn’t really make a good transition which lead them to the position to be homeless,” she said.
