A local assistant principal has been named “Assistant Principal of the Year” for the entire state of Alabama.

She is Jennifer West from Buckhorn High School in New Market. She was surprised with the honor in a meeting after school.

West started as a special education teacher at Buckhorn High in 2007 and was chosen as the school’s assistant principal in 2016.
