Local democratic party advocates are working to continue the party’s momentum after Doug Jones’ win.

The democratic party in Alabama gets fewer donations than the republican party according to The Center for Responsive Politics.

Democrat leaders say gathering support on a local level is key. In Madison County some of that effort is being focused toward women.

“We’re going to be going into the community, particularly into nonpartisan groups of women or organizations that support women’s rights, health care, justice rights, things like that, and find out what their issues are,” said Bren Stilson with the Madison County Democratic Women.

Stilson has been gathering support to pressure lawmakers into action.
