If you’ve ever wanted a behind-the-scenes look into how a police department operates, the Citizens Police Academy is for you.
The next session with the begins on October 7, with applications accepted until Sept. 27. The ten-week course meets every Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and features classroom presentations and interactive instruction by Huntsville Police Training and Command staff members.

- Precinct Operation
- Communications (911 Center)
- Use of Force
- K-9
- SWAT
- Domestic Violence
- Narcotics/Gangs
To participate, you must be at least 19 years old; a resident, college student, or business owner in the City of Huntsville; and have no prior felony convictions, outstanding warrants, or pending criminal cases. Cameras, recording devices, and weapons (regardless of whether you have a pistol permit) are prohibited while attending the Huntsville Citizens Police Academy.
