Three Huntsville City Schools were just awarded thousands in stem grants.
The Tennessee Valley Authority gave Huntsville High School and Grissom High School $5,000 each. They awarded Challenger Middle School $1500.
Teachers could apply for the grant on behalf of their schools, and they say this money will go a long way.
“The grant that we got was the maximum– 5,000 dollars,” said Sarah Stevens, a teacher at Huntsville High School. “They are using that to purchase all of the required materials to build a custom electric run car to race for the Green Power USA race team.”
These grants are all a part of $600,000 in total STEM grants given to 142 schools across the valley.
