Over 90% of businesses in Madison County have under 50 employees. Local shop owners are encouraging you to “shop small” for all your needs this year.

Black Friday may have you running to the nearest mall, but the Saturday after Thanksgiving all about shopping locally.

Huntsville came together to spread the word about north Alabama’s small businesses! Locals are kicking off the celebration of “Small Business Saturday”.

Over 90 percent of businesses in Madison County have under 50 employees and are considered small businesses. Local shop owners are encouraging you to “shop small” for all your needs this year.

Now, when you shop at a local business, be sure to post a photo!

Use the hashtag “#ShopSmallHSV” and you could win gift cards or other prizes!

We spoke with Tyson Saller, the owner of Roosters Crow Coffee Roastery. He says the small business shopping experience has a personal feel you can’t replace. Saller adds, “There’s something about the quality of a family business. You know, the family business produces quality, but it also produces relationship. So, if you want a relationship with the product you’re buying, you can get that from a small business.”
