Huntsville family displaced after house fire; HSVFR saves pups

Fire Rescue advises to get out when there is a fire, and not leave the doors open.

One Huntsville family of four is without a home after it went up in flames. The fire happened near Mount Vernon Road and Yale Circle Saturday evening.

Neighbor Jean Jackson says she was asleep when fire rescue responded. “I woke up to the lights flashing and then I looked out the window and saw fire trucks and polices [sic],” said Jackson.

Jackson says she was frightened by what she saw. “I was kind of scared because I didn’t know what to think really, because I was wondering what’s happening out here.”

She later learned from the news what happened next door.

Huntsville Fire and Rescue officials say they responded to the scene around 7 p.m. The Huntsville Police Department and Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. were there also.

One adult was treated for smoke inhalation. However, the family had pets as well. Crews say they found two pups unresponsive. Huntsville Fire and Rescue shared a photo on Facebook of crews reviving the two pups.

In the photo they administered oxygen to both dogs. They also assisted with ventilation, and both dogs survived.

Jackson is thankful that lives were spared. “I’m just so glad that nobody got hurt,” she said.
