Huntsville Hospital is now better equipped to fight diseases that could spread rampantly.

The new Highly Infectious Disease Response Unit is now in place at the hospital, thanks to a grant from the Alabama Department of Public Health. In a post announcing the new unit, the Huntsville Hospital Foundation said if there’s ever a case of Ebola, SARS, or other infection disease in our region, the Huntsville Hospital ER is now equipped to handle it.

The new unit has a designated negative pressure three-room unit, safety equipment, and intensive training needed to triage patients in a safe way before they are transported to the regional treatment center at Emory University Hospital.
