Heavy winds caused a tree to come down right into a road in downtown Huntsville.
It happened Thursday afternoon on Church Street next to Bank Independent. Huntsville police blocked a lane as workers removed parts of the tree that were in the road.
A man who was at the bank says when the tree came down, it almost fell on a car parked nearby. “It’s probably because the roots are really wet,” said A.J. Ruiz. “The ground is saturated. That’s very normal for that to happen. Big trees — that when the grounds are that wet, that will happen.”
The tree has safely been removed and is no longer blocking traffic.
