HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Flu symptoms are very similar to those of COVID-19. Pediatric ER Physician Dr. Mudasser Ibrahim, MD says Coronavirus symptoms include shortness of breath, heavy or fast breathing, and dehydration.

However, Dr. Ibrahim is urging parents to wait before rushing their child to the emergency room.

Parents are advised to call their doctors first before going to the ER.

Dr. Ibrahim says a child could be exposed to the virus.

"You're actually putting your child at more risk by bringing them to the ER if the child has minor systems like cough, congestion, fever," says Ibrahim.

Parents are also advised to practice social distancing.
