Madison City Schools adjusts COVID-19 guidelines in line with updated ADPH guidelines

The district intends to resume a hybrid schedule for the first week after its winter break and return to a full-time in-person schedule following that.

MADISON, Alabama — Madison City Schools has adjusted its COVID-19 guidelines to fit the Alabama Department of Health's updated guidelines.

The district said the most relevant change is the potential to limit close contact quarantining from 14 days to just 10 days. To meet these new guidelines, the following conditions must be met:

  • Continue to monitor symptoms the full 14 days
  • If any of the following symptoms are observed, isolate immediately and seek testing:
    • Fever
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath
    • Difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore Throat
    • Congestion
    • Runny nose
    • Nausea
    • Vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  • Wear a mask, stay at least six feet from others, avoid crowds, wash hands frequently and take other preventative steps for the full 14-day period in case the individual is infectious without symptoms

Additionally, the district will only implement the 10-day quarantine when able to maintain six-foot social distancing and mask wearing, which the district said is more easily attained during its hybrid schedule.

The district intends to resume a hybrid schedule for the first week after its winter break and return to a full-time in-person schedule following that.

If your child has any COVID-19 symptoms, has tested positive for the virus or been exposed to somebody with the virus, please report it to the district. You can report exposure online through a Google form.
