HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Retail stores are back in business this weekend, which means many people in the Valley are now back to work.
Bridge Street Town Centre opened on Friday, but on Saturday is was the first day back to work for 'Shades' sales associates Hannah Samples and Jason Degroff.
"I woke up hours before I was supposed to be here because I just wanted to be here that bad," says Samples.
I'm glad that we're back, at the same time it feels nice being at home. But you can only be at home for so long," added Degroff.
The employees say a couple weeks before the store closed, they've seen at most, seven transactions in a day. They're used to more than triple times that.
On Saturday however, they've seen a lot more foot traffic.
"Today's been a lot busier than usual at this time," added Degroff.
Just across the street, Urban Cookhouse has seen more patrons too. The restaurant stayed open while the mall was closed, but traffic was still slow.
They've been able to manage with pick-up and delivery service. Now that the mall is open, business is a little better.
"We got a little more traffic than what we had been seeing from the last few weeks," says Urban Cookhouse Bridge Street General Manager, Rutul Zaveri.
One shopper says she's happy to be back outside.
"Getting out in the fresh air, I love the sunshine and the fresh air so I'm really excited about being able to get out and walk around," says Brenda Knox.
Parkway Place Mall have opened its doors today. The hours of operation are Monday - Saturday, from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and on Sundays noon to 6 p.m.
