Huntsville-Madison County CVB celebrates 'National Travel & Tourism Week' from May 3rd-9th.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — This week, you can take a road trip across the country without leaving your home.

The Huntsville/Madison County CVB celebrates 'National Travel and Tourism Week" with a virtual tour to all 50 states.

It'll be hosted by the U.S. Travel association on Tuesday, May 5th.The virtual tour will be on Twitter. Follow @USTravel and the hashtag #VirtualRoadTrip. The road trip will kick off at 9 a.m. EST in Washington, D.C., and conclude in California at 9 p.m. EST.

The CVB says it's an opportunity to appreciate travel.

"Travel may not be at the top of your list, certainly for people that have been affected by unemployment and things of that nature. But, we think it's important to keep remaining positivity. And for a lot of people travel is something they can look forward to," HSV/Madison CVB Marketing Director says Kristen Pepper.

May 4, 10 a.m. CST

Tweet Chat Kick-Off

Huntsville/Madison County locals, past and future visitors, and all Twitter users with a love for the Rocket City are invited to participate in a Tweet Chat on Monday, May 4, hosted by the CVB. Starting at 10 a.m. CST, follow along with the CVB's Twitter channel (@Go2HuntsvilleAL) and respond to the questions with your favorite photos and sentiments around what makes Huntsville a top travel destination.

May 5th

#TakeoutTuesday with GrubSouth Delivery

The Huntsville/Madison County CVB has partnered with local food delivery service, GrubSouth, to offer a special #TakeoutTuesday promotion. For one day only, GrubSouth will waive the delivery fee on food orders from Rhythm on Monroe, the Von Braun Center's newest in-house dining addition. The public is encouraged to support local restaurants during this time by taking advantage of delivery and curbside take-out options.

May 6, 6:30 p.m. CST

Virtual Happy Hour with Alex Hendrix

Join local musician Alex Hendrix for a "virtual happy hour" on Wednesday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m. CST. Listeners can tune in to the CVB's Facebook page as Hendrix performs a live "happy hour" music set from The View at Burritt on the Mountain.

In addition to the week's virtual events, the CVB is offering even more ways to celebrate travel in the Rocket City, including the release of a Huntsville-centric crossword puzzle, exploring the Lucky Duck and Trains on Main scavenger hunts, highlighting area attractions and museums, and sharing specialized itineraries to help future visitors start planning their visit to Huntsville.

Keeping health and safety in mind, all activities this year can be enjoyed online, solo, or in public using social distancing measures.
