Businesses adjust to social distancing during Coronavirus outbreak

Social distancing has affected many businesses, however some, such as nail salons, have been able to adjust

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Coronavirus has affected many businesses economically, but people still want to look nice.

So are places like nail salons seeing fewer customers, or is it business as usual?

Nurturing Nails salon owner Ericka Norton says it's business as usual, even with social distancing. "Being that this atmosphere is laid back, and I don't have a lot of people running in and out because we work by appointment," says Norton.

"I practice everything they teach us at nail school. Sanitation. Sterilization," adds Norton.

She says she's since amped-up her sanitation efforts due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

"Now I make sure I wipe off my station after every person," she added.

She says she has seen a decline in some appointments, but not by much. "Just some of my clients that are a little older and much more cautious than others," says Norton.

One of her clients for 25 years, decided to book an appointment for Wednesday. He says a pedicure is what he needed.

"Yesterday I just stayed at the house, and didn't go out. And I said this probably wouldn't hurt and it would relax me," says Anthony Gibson.

Norton says the safety of herself, and others come first.

"I do everything in my power to make them safe, and me as well, and plus the other ladies that work here too," added Norton.

Several nail technicians throughout the city of Huntsville have decided to close their shops early due to Coronavirus concerns.
