Students and staff in Alabama schools will receive free masks

Three washable, reusable masks will be provided to each student and staff member.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Thanks to the Alabama Department of Health, every student in Alabama will receive three washable and reusable face coverings for the upcoming school year.

ADPH provided funding for 2.5 million face coverings for school teachers, employees, and students.

There is not a statewide mandate for masks in schools. Decisions about masks are left up to each district.

Many districts are offering virtual classes or a combination of virtual and in-person classes, rather than having all students on campuses.

Huntsville City Schools received a donation of 5,000 face masks from Toyota Alabama. Madison City Schools is reviewing bids from vendors to provide the district with 30,000 masks.
