45 Decatur Morgan Hospital employees test positive for coronavirus

Decatur Morgan Hospital President Kelli Powers said they're taking every precaution possible to prevent the spread of the virus.

DECATUR, Ala — Decatur Morgan Hospital President Kelli Powers said 45 hospital employees are out after testing positive for the coronavirus.

According to Powers, the employees did not contract the virus at the hospital, rather somewhere out in the community.

Powers said they're taking every precaution possible to prevent the spread of the virus.

"The majority of our positive employees, it's from the community," said Powers. "It's from the spouse or a child. As far as the staff, we're doing okay. We're rotating staff members out of the COVID units so that the same person isn't always taking care of COVID patients."

There are currently 30 inpatients with the coronavirus in Decatur Morgan Hospital. Five of them are in the ICU and three of them are on ventilators.
