Football players at DAR High School unanimously decided to take the field for their final game of the season after one of their players was killed in a car crash Friday morning.
The DAR Patriots Football Team posted this on their Facebook page:
Dr. Cindy L. Wigley, Marshall County Schools Superintendent, shared these thoughts:
Our hearts are broken over the loss of one of our students. He was in a tragic car accident on his way to school this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and our DAR School family.
It is a very difficult time for our school system. Extra counselors were called to the schools. We thank our local church ministers, school counselors, and counselors from our support agencies. We are so thankful we have such a caring and supportive school staff and community.
The student was senior and a huge asset to our DAR football team. At the family’s request, the game will be played tonight in his honor. Also, in honor of his legacy, we will be retiring his jersey. His cousin and teammate, J.T. Balch will be carrying his jersey tonight and presenting to his parents. All family members will be embellished with corsages. Anyone that is available, please join us in his honor.
