Setbacks for Boeing and recalls for Apple.
Boeing is facing more problems after regulators discovered a new software problem its troubled 737 Max. The 737 Max fleet is expected to stay grounded until late this year, which is longer than expected. The delay is expected to prompt additional disruptions to airline schedules around the world.
Apple’s design chief is leaving to form his own company. Johnny Ive has been a major design force behind products such as the original iMac, the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad, and even Apple’s new spaceship campus.
In other Apple news, the company is recalling some of its Macbook Pro laptops. More than 400,000 15-inch Macbook Pros have batteries that could overheat and cause a fire. There have been about two dozen reports of problems with these batteries. Apple is offering to repair the laptops for free.
