Fat Bear Week is back, and only the fattest bears need apply.
To prepare for hibernation, bears in Alaska’s Katmai National Park and Preserve are packing on the pounds. The National Park Service turned it into an annual contest, which is now in its fifth year.
The park’s chubbiest bears are pitted against one another in head-to-head matchups. There’s even an online bracket featuring profiles of the husky competitors.
Online voting is already open and the chunky champ will be named on October 8.
