Kids from Huntsville City Schools learned about the history of many local African Americans on a field trip hosted by Earthscope today.
The elementary students travelled to see Glenwood Cemetery and the Buffalo Soldiers Monument. Groups of students walked around to each station to learn the stories of different soldiers.
Students also got to try hardtack and watch a film about Buffalo Soldiers made by two local brothers.
The Earthscope program is a program through Huntsville City Schools that helps get kids out of the classroom to teach them fun lessons.
Earthscope says they put on this field trip becuase this lesson gets skipped over in history classes.
