HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville City Schools announced on April 28 that Mountain Gap Middle School will temporarily transition to remote learning for April 29 and April 30.

Traditional students will return to campus on May 3.

"The district’s Preventative Measures Team worked collaboratively with the school’s leadership team to assess several factors before making the decision to transition to remote learning including the number of positive COVID-19 cases, the number of students and staff members in quarantine, and staffing availability," the district said in a media release. "The Preventative Measures team regularly makes individualized assessments on the needs of each school, and it will continue to monitor the status of all of the district’s school."

The district said the school will serve curbside meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekdays during this period.

Virtual instruction will occur as it did at the beginning of the school year. If families have questions, they are asked to contact their student's teacher and principal.
