AUBURN, Ala. (WIAT) — Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn will make at least $49 million over seven years with his new contract with the Tigers.
Details of the deal released Tuesday states Malzahn will make $6.7 million this year with a $100,000 annual raise. He’s scheduled to make $7.3 million in 2024.
If Auburn fires Malzahn without cause, Auburn would owe him 75 percent of the remaining contract value. If he takes another job before Dec. 30, 2019, Malzahn would owe Auburn $7 million. That number would go down to $1 million after four years.
Auburn and Malzahn agreed to the new deal in December after the Tigers won the SEC West title and played in the Peach Bowl. Malzahn had been making about $4.725 million.
