Decatur weatherization program helps low-income households

Two Decatur homes were fixed up Friday to show how a program can help low-income households save energy and money this winter.

The Community Action Partnership of North Alabama works on people’s homes on issues like insulation and air quality. This saves the people who live there around $280 a year.

WZDX News caught up with a woman whose home was worked on. She says it’s gotten hard for her to fix everything up herself.

“I just told the ladies, I said I don’t know how to act having somebody do it for me,” said Wanda Griffin. “But I’m so proud and thankful for it, I really am.”

Last year the program helped almost 40 households with weatherization and 16 with health and safety repairs.
