Crews find missing driver at Bucks Pocket State Park, driver identified

Officials locate the missing driver and vehicle Sunday afternoon at Bucks Pocket State Park.

UPDATE: Officials have released the name of the man who went missing on Feb. 5 in South Sauty Creek in Buck’s Pocket State Park. Raymond Edwards, 82 of Scottsboro, was identified after his remains were recovered Sunday afternoon around 4:30 p.m.

Original Story:

Officials at Bucks Pocket State Park say Sunday afternoon they located the body of the driver and vehicle that went missing at the park earlier this month. ALEA troopers were notified Sunday afternoon around 1:45PM that the vehicle was found. They say around 2:30PM, a diver confirmed that the missing motorist was also with the vehicle.

Back on February 5th, the Sheriff’s Office got a report of a car being swept off the road by floodwaters into South Sauty Creek. After four days of searching, they had to suspend the search due to dangerous weather and flooding. Search efforts resumed today.

ALEA officials say they will share a press release later Sunday afternoon with more information.
