Expect nighttime lane closures for next two weeks along I-65 through Limestone County while road-patching work is done.

The Alabama Department of Transportation advises motorists that Wiregrass Construction will begin about two weeks of nighttime patching operations Sunday, Oct. 1, on Interstate 65 between milepost 339 (north of the Tennessee River Bridge) and Exit 351 (U.S. 72) in Limestone County.

The patching is the initial stage of a nearly $15.3 million project to resurface this 12.5-mile section of interstate. While further project activity will be delayed until spring, the early patching will temporarily address potholes and prevent more serious deterioration during winter.

Expect single-lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly Sundays through Thursdays. In areas near Interstate 565, work will begin two hours later, at 8 p.m., to lessen impacts on traffic. Work will begin about 8 p.m. Sunday on I-65 northbound near MP 339. State troopers will assist with traffic control.
