A civil rights worker who was killed in Alabama is being honored up north.

Viola Liuzzo was killed during the 1965 Voting Rights March led by Martin Luther King, Jr. The white civil rights activist was driving fellow activists between Montgomery and Selma when she was shot and killed by KKK members.

On Tuesday, her hometown of Detroit unveiled a statue of her to honor her for taking action in her community and our nation.
