Athens rape arrest

An 18-year-old in Athens was arrested for rape second degree. The charge involves a 13-year-old girl.

On April 11th, Athens Police received a call from The Hometown Grocery on South Jefferson Street about a young girl in the store who said she was being harassed by a stranger.

When investigators arrived, they discovered she was 13 years old and had run away from home several days before. She said she had been staying at a friend’s house.

Investigator Mickey Hart and DHR were contacted, and when they spoke with the girl she said she had had “consensual sexual intercourse with Knight” while at his house.

However, Knight is 18 years old, and it’s against Alabama law for him to have sexual intercourse with a 13-year old.

Knight was arrested for rape second degree, booked at the police department, and transferred to the county jail.
