An Athens man was arrested Friday and charged with human trafficking and distribution of a controlled substance. The arrest was made following a minor’s report that the man had tried to recruit them for prostitution.
Dhalquistiere Eichelberger, Jr., 28, is charged with 1st degree human trafficking and distribution of a controlled substance. He is currently held in the Limestone County Jail with a $10,000 bond set for the distribution charge; no bond has been set for the human trafficking charge.
On March 25th, a juvenile reported that they had been sexually assaulted and that Eichelberger had tried to recruit them for prostitution. Following an interview with the Child Advocacy Center, the child disclosed that Eichelberger had given them marijuana and had talked to them about becoming a prostitute.
Based on that interview, investigators began a human trafficking investigation. After they found probable cause, investigators got an arrest warrant.
On Friday, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at Eichelberger Jr.’s residence, where investigators found almost an ounce of marijuana and recovered several electronic devices.
This is an ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be pending.
