0106 ARAB HOUSE CLOSE UP

One woman’s body was found a home that caught fire in Arab, Saturday morning. The victim suffered gunshot wounds and the fire is now being looked at as a part of a potential homicide investigation.

Arab Fire and Rescue crews were called to a home on Fourth Street NE in Arab at 3:30 Saturday morning. Crews responded and discovered one woman was killed.

The victim has been identified by the Marshall County Coroner as Heather Golden. She was 40 years old.

But, when investigators took a closer look, they realized the victim suffered at least one gunshot wound. Investigators say, they suspect she was shot before the home was set on fire.

We do not know where or how many times she was shot.

Initially, Heather Golden’s car was declared missing from the scene. But, the vehicle has since been recovered by police.

Arab Police officials have commented that this does not appear to be a random incident, and are investigating the crime as a homicide. But, they say the public does not seem to be at a direct risk.

Our reporter spoke to neighbors in the area, who didn’t want to appear on camera. They say Heather Golden was a kind woman, mother, pleasant neighbor, and will be deeply missed.

Hundreds of Facebook comments have been posted sending condolences to the family.

At this time, no suspects are in custody.
