The Tennessee Valley Diamond Hawks is an alternative baseball team for people with autism or other special needs. Right now they are looking for players both male and female, ages 15 and up.
Alternative Baseball Organization is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Alternative Baseball Organization was founded in suburban Atlanta by Taylor Duncan (diagnosed on the spectrum himself) in January 2016. The mission of the Alternative Baseball Organization is to provide an accepting and encouraging traditional environment of social and professional development for teens/adults with autism/special needs through America’s Pastime. When Duncan was younger, he went through speech issues, sensory issues, and anxiety issues that came with having autism. He wasn’t able to participate or accepted in competitive sports due to his developmental delays. With the help of his Mother, teachers, mentors, and coaches who believed in him, Duncan has gotten to where he is today in life. He lives with the goal to inspire, raise awareness and acceptance for autism and special needs globally through the sport of baseball. Duncan started this organization to give others on the spectrum/special needs the opportunity to be accepted for who they are and to be encouraged to be the best they can be.
