MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – An Alabama newspaper publisher is calling for the return of the Ku Klux Klan.

The editorial titled “Klan needs to ride again,” with no byline, is taking the media by storm and it’s creating a buzz on social media.

Goodloe Sutton, publisher of the Democrat-Reporter newspaper in Linden, told the Montgomery Advertiser he was the author of the editorial and stands by it.

“Time for the Ku Klux Klan to night ride again,” Sutton writes in the first line of the op-ed. He goes on to write about Democrats in the Republican Party and Democrats “plotting to raise taxes in Alabama.”

The editorial, published Feb. 14, was spotted by a couple of Alabama reporters who pushed it out on social media.

“If we could get the Klan to go up there and clean out D.C., we’d all be better off,” Sutton explained to Montgomery Advertiser reporter Melissa Brown.

At least one Alabama representative has responded to the editorial. Rep. Terri Sewell (D) of Alabama’s 7th Congressional District took to Twitter.
