As Election Year draws near, voters are concerned about voting safety.
A new report on election security says states like Alabama need more federal money to safeguard elections from outside threats. State election officials say they need to replace old voting machines used in most counties.
They also want to establish a “cyber navigator program” to help local officials protect their systems. The report noted unsuccessful cyberattacks against Alabama’s voter registration database in 2016.
